My boot won't open with the remote key.
What could be the problem and how much would it cost to fix it?

Could be a flat battery in the key
Could be a dicky switch in the key
Could be any of a dozen things.

Does the boot open with the key?
Does the remote locking work the doors?

I tried the spare remote key. Driver passenger Door locked and unlocked.
But boot won't open with either remote key.

  • Can you open the boot manually?

Or do you mean you can't unlock the boot?

     it wouldn't unlock

There is no way to manually open it from the outside.

Unless I put the back seat down and find a way which is not ideally

Might be your only option to get the boot open and then locate the fault and carry out a repair

Mine wouldn't open this week yet again.
Take back seats down, climb in with a flat screwdriver, poke the loop thingy, get out of car, close all doors, try fob, still no joy, repeat, then I poked the outside boot lock sort of under the handle bit with said screwdriver, something went click, tried fob again, and all worked and opened, then I  squirted the lock on the boot with wd40, no idea if I should have done, but it all seems to work fine atm.

  • a vauxhall dealer will tell you for roughly £120 per hour + parts. its probably the boot lock given up the ghost.
  • I once had a similar problem with a ford escort, once I had crawled into the boot from inside the car and opened it I realised that the latch that the lock clicked into was loose, once I tightened it down I never had the problem again.
