This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Good morning folks.Outside looks dry this morning, perhaps the weather wiIl stay that way for a while. The blooming gulls are squawking away like mad things and have been for ages. I don't have gulls at my own place but I suppose here they get their food from discarded fast food and overflowing bins. The dishwasher is chugging away. Unfortunately I pressed a wrong button so it's now doing a four hour wash, luckily the machine is full so I don't feel it's a wasted effort. I couldn't cancel the long programme last night and had hoped that it would clear overnight. Oh well, nothing to worry about. I'll put on the washing machine as soon as it's a more decent time.DM's visitor spent a long time here yesterday which meant that she was very tired afterwards. The upside is that both really enjoyed themselves playing Scrabble and grappling with the crossword. I enjoy the fact that DM can still do those things.Last night I ordered a balance board for myself. It's also called a wobble board 🤣 which is what I am still doing so it's time to take further action. I shall only be working at standing on it and will probably have to hold onto something for the first few attempts. I've also ordered a sling / chest bag for when I go walking, the cross body bag I use is lovely but it bounces. The sling bag fits much closer and is smaller. Now it's time for my shower. Yesterday I forgot a couple of food stuff so will pick them up later this morning. I hope that everyone is doing OK and send my Happy Sunday out to all. 😎14

Another post vanished and as it was not of earth-shattering interest I will just wish everyone a good day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back14

Morning folks and thanks GERS. I have the washing machine on and the forecast says light rain all day, but the sun is emerging so don't know whether the washing will be dried outside or in.
I was planning on tackling all sorts of jobs whilst I was laid in bed but now I am up I feel differently about it. Even lunch is going to be a lazy affair. I thought I had better start using the M & S ready meals I ordered in a moment of self pity the other week. So last night I left the Braised Steak and crushed root veg one out to defrost. Now I feel even more of a sloth than I usually do. I'll do some green veg to brighten it up a bit.
I promised myself I would book a long overdue eye test as soon as the opticians' opened again but now wondering whether to bother. A neighbour said she had been and felt it was a waste of time. Of course she had to keep her mask on so as fast as the optician slotted the lenses in the spec frame they steamed up and she couldn't see anyway. Anybody else had one done and had a better experience?
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Take care and stay safe x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13 -
Morning everyone
Gers - thanks for starting us off x
Bright sunny start to the day.
DH is watching catchup tv, I'm showered, dressed and now enjoying my first cuppa whulst on here. DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was a naughty takeaway pizza and chips - which was lovely. We're having roast chicken with all the extras for lunch.
Today will be a chilled day once lunch has been prepped cooked and eaten. I'll organise packups whilst lunch is cooking.
Keep safe and well x

Morning Campers, brrr it feels a lot colder this morning but I mustn't complain as it is dry.I am hoping the grass at the front is dry enough to cut today, the back has already been done but it's growing fast again. If I leave it til this afternoon it might be warmer out too. And of course there is always some ironing in the basket which could be done in an emergency.Tea last night was very nice but the gammon steaks were too large for us and we only needed half of one each, so today the other halves will be minced with potato, onions some cheese and leftover pineapple and we'll make rissoles. Nothing will get wasted as I hate throwing good food away, it also makes for some unusual mealsHope everyone can enjoy today, whatever the day brings.Take care all, stay safe and keep well.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently12

Morning all
Nice sunny day here but with a bit of a chill in the air it should warm up later on and then get cooler again in the evening. I have a wash on the go which will be hung out once its finished and the house needs a quick tidy but nothing more really.
We are going to go and buy a french stick and some cambozola today for a picnic and get the dogs out for a nice long walk they have only had quick ones for a few days as the weather has been bad so they need to stretch their legs today.
Dinner tonight will be something with mince as I have a big pack to use up I might do a lasagne which I find a real fuss to make but really enjoy eating, I could do a chilli as well for later in the week.
We did 10 miles on the bikes yesterday just pootling around the woods etc it is really enjoyable, Gers if you lived nearer you could come with me it really is relaxing and lifts your spirits.
Have good days all xx11 -
Morning
Lovely day here and a bit of a lie in which is not like me but as expected my zoom call went late (for me) Fascinating to hear what's going on over there and I did leave thinking whilst we have it tough in the UK things could be a lot worse.
Sloth mode activated here too so bar a few basics the plan is to declutter a very full sky planner and eat crap
Actually eating won't be too bad as there was loads of fish pie left and being like nan that will have to go today either to my belly or frozen or maybe a bit of both. Always so much left when you are cooking for one.
Hope rosy red is OK sounds like her area has been put on much stricter rules now Gers glad you can still have friends round to visit these local lockdowns are so confusing. We have escaped so far but the numbers are rising so who knows what is next
Have a good day all and keep smiling

DMIL was rushed into hospital again this and at the 3rd attempt she has been admitted DH only visitor allowed as next of kin
Slightly cross as we keep being told different things about what is wrong from heart failure to chest infection! Now waiting ultrasound on her heart most likely tomorrow
Actually went to a sm this week we have a new Al** and DH took me on evening last week was good as not many people around (I'm still not great around a lot of people)
Right off to sort out old computer table in spare room which BIL may take today as they have 2 computers at home now Will make more room in spare rooms will be a win for us

Hi everyone
Just having my lunch - little one is napping upstairs though I think she could be disturbed as half the neighbours seem to be cutting their grass! The sun is shining and its quite mild so we'll get out into the garden later.
We've been down to my mam and dads this morning and I wrote dads email to eldest DD in Sweden, while mam played with little one.
Hope everyone has a pleasant Sunday

I would suggest that you wait a while unless you feel that your sight has changed much.6
