Went bankrupt on 26/08/2020, have heard nothing from o/r went to pay for shopping yesterday and card declined. Also wage's did not get paid in, so may have lost those forever, is this what should be happening. Any advice appreciated.

You won't have lost the wages however you'll need to speak to payroll about sorting it out, they may be able to pay it in cash or they may ask you for another account to pay into so if you've a trusted relative that might be an option. It is perfectly normal for bank accounts to be frozen. As long as there's no overdraft being used on the current account and not loads of money in it will most likely be released soon however the bank is likely to want to speak to you, they may choose to close it or at least they'll want to amend it to remove any overdraft facilities and have you return any cheque books. You went bankrupt on a Friday, they most likely wouldn't have got any notification until early this week and unfortunately Corona is slowing everything down.

Thanks for the advice MinuteNoodles, would have been nice if i had been told me they were freezing it, felt a bit of a fool at the checkout, no money and card not working!! me and my partner went bankrupt on the wednesday, she had a phone call on the thursday from an o/r in newcastle. but i have heard nothing.0

It is the bank who freezers the account, not the OR. if you make contact with OR Monday, they will arrange for notification to be sent to bank to say they have no interest,0

Thanks for that JCS1, might sound a bit thick, but does that mean the OR has told my bank, but had no contact with me?0

Thanks for that, thought the OR had told the bank and not me.0

Usually its best to plan for these things beforehand, especially when taking a step such as this, a new basic bank account is always a recomended first step for anyone concidering bankrupcy, they are not always offered straight away, but they are available to anyone, Coop, Nationwide, Monzo and Lloyds are all bankrupcy freindly.

Would have sorted one,but as the OR that spoke to my partner last week said we will write to bank to tell them we have no interest, i thought the OR would contact me to say if i could keep my account or not. Finding out it is not that simple!! thanks for your advice.1
