O/S Daily Saturday 5 September 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Dry cool start to the day but dry underfoot.
I was reasonably productive and got several jobs done also plumber came out and all is ok at the moment. He put a new longer water inlet pipe on. We'll have to wait and see how things go.
Dinner last night was egg fried rice and mixed herb chicken for the menfolk. I had the rice and fishcakes. Tonight I'm not sure, but we won't starve.
MrL have a new app, where you can gain points and offers, I got £5 off my shopping and they have money off offers etc - definitely worth a look.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. A nice sunny start after overnight rain but still quite cool with a bit of a wind blowing.
We remain in the local lockdown and the same restrictions stay in place re house and garden socialising (unless in a support bubble). But if we had a casino, swimming pool, ice rink or gym in our little community then you will be pleased to hear we could go to them!!! (I think!) These rules are taking some following with new/obsolete different restrictions applying to numerous different areas. Is it any wonder certain people are choosing to ignore them by pleading ignorance.
So a day of same old same old, but with the added excitement of a delivery of victuals at lunch time! I must clean the fridge in readiness. It's looking seriously empty just now so a good time to do it. I have already forgotten what I ordered so there may be some nice surprises! A text just now tells me I have no missing items.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Take care one and all and stay safe x

Morning
Sorry your rules stay in place TA at least your are able to get out on the bus with your friends. Have to admit I did wonder if you would decide to take up ice skating maybe we will see you on the next series of Dancing on IceSeriously though it must be so frustrating x
Asda just delivered and this week all present and correct including capers. Fish pie on the menu today with loads of spinach leeks and peas in so my vit count should be OK for a day or two Found a good deal on Good Food mag 5 issues for a fiver. Main reason is it will cover the christmas edition and the free calendar they give so not a bad buy I reckon.
Today will be mostly volunteer calls and possibly another garage attack with all health and safety precautions in placeTonight I have a zoom call with a good friend in America which tends to be long and powered with wine but the good news is the world be sorted out by the end
New James martin this morning too ....ahhhh
Have a great day all12 -
Morning all, it's a bit quiet here today, everyone's either having a lie in or very busy.We have intermittent sun/clouds but there is a breeze blowing so I have put a load in the wm. I have also stripped the bed so that will go in next. I shall clean the upstairs and then remake the bed and that will probably be enough excitement for today as I still feel tired from yesterday. I feel like going back to bed already so it's a good job it's been stripped and I can't, means I must shake myself. Tea will be gammon steaks with a melted cheese and pineapple topping, a jacket potato and a side salad. I must get back on the diet too as I was doing so well and lost 5lbs, but I feel that's creeping back on
I blame the cookies I made with DGD, they are very moreish.
TA sorry the news wasn't better, I feel the PTB thinks the economy is worth more than mental health.Nelski Good luck on solving the problems of the world, could you start with this country first though, feels like we're constantly going around in a wm with no way of stopping. Enjoy your new hubby James and if you're not out of the garage by Wed I'll come a-lookingTake care all, stay safe and keep well.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently12 -
Morning all
We had a lovely evening at 'book club' last night, my friend did it very well and we were all socially distanced she had wipes and hand gel after using the loo and we wiped down handles etc, her DH made a lovely curry and rice with lots of side dishes and we made a good start on putting the world to rights Nels I shall pass the baton to you tonight !!!
Onto today we need to have a clean / tidy round and then get out for a good long ride on the bikes and then get the dogs out for a long walk.
Dinner today will be scampi and chips I think with some peas will get the potatoes done this morning. I have a wash on the go and will hang that out for a while as its sunny today.
I have bitten the bullet and ordered a new phone mine has been slowly dying for a good few months and I found a really good deal so have ordered one it should turn up either today or Monday, I have started the process of moving all the photos onto an external hard drive and backing everything up so im hoping the swap will be fairly simple.
Have good days all xx11 -
Morning all.My shopping trip is all done. M&S early doors as DM likes their sea bass and I like the cauliflower cheese, I also had a couple of orders to collect. Then onto the Italian deli for the black pudding tartlet and some cake for the crossworders. After that I did the Waitrose shop calling in at the PO on the way back. I wanted some of the new Rupert the Bear stamps which the staff brought out of the safe for me, they also had some Sherlock stamps which I had missed - I do like a 'pretty' stamp. My temporary crown is giving me some trouble, I spoke to the dentist yesterday and he reassured me about the reason for the pain. My next appointment is this coming Friday so I can hang on I've got enough paracetamol to keep the worst at bay.Last night I filled a bag with books for the CS, it's now in the boot ready to go, along with a couple of pairs of shoes. I bought the slip on shoes for post-op use but didn't wear them. The CS wants everything in a bag and won't give the bag back so I need to put everything in a carrier.NELSKI - thanks for the heads up about the magazine, will go and check it out.NAN - good luck on the diet, I keep starting and then withering.REDRUBY - you're doing so well with the cycling, I'm almost envious! I'd love to cycle again and it would be perfect if I were at my own home, at DM's it's not so easy. Now off to have some coffee whilst opening my M&S orders. I wish everyone a happy Saturday.10

Hi everyone
Just been having a catch-up and bacon rolls while my little weekend companion is napping. We've been shopping this morning and then called at mam and dad as dad had banking he wanted me to do. Little one had a lovely run around, banging a pan with a wooden spoon!
I was back at work Thursday and Friday - lots of new guidelines to follow, but the children didn't seem to notice any differences so that was good.
My little great nephew started at a new nursery on Thursday, he's 3 now and enjoyed it. Little granddaughter is going to go to nursery for a full day on Fridays as both DD and I are at work. She was there for the morning yesterday and one of her nurses went in to train the staff to feed her through her tube - she seems to have taken it all in her stride.
So I've got a couple of things to do while my house is peaceful. Took a portion of lasagne out the freezer for tea, so nice and easy.
Hope everyone has a good day9
