Does the £100 per week equate to at least the NLW of £8.72 per hour (£8.20 ph if you are aged 21-24)?
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

Doesn't matter whether you are life partners, it would be like taking on any other employee.

All you (or he) will need here: https://www.gov.uk/browse/employing-people
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

    Hi Jennp,
You mentioned you will be paid £100 per week for paper work. There is a great deal of niches in paperwork, only your partner can let you know the actual work done by you.
Also keep in mind before agreement you should discuss every minute detail even tax payments or else so you can work better in future with clear mind. Being professional is not offensive.
You have mis-read the post, She will not be being paid £100 pw for paper work, she wants to know what paperwork will be involved if she is employed by her partner

when i googled if someone who is self employed can employ a wife or partner also on a self employed basis, it seems to come up with setting up a partnership or giving them an employment contract.  i recollect someone mentioned in another post that you can't actually employ your spouse or partner on a self employed basis.  is this right?

Well you can literally just give them cash tax free; so it’s abit of an oxymoron

I assume this is to limit his tax liability.

yes, it is often about tax liability when you pay your spouse or partner and want to declare it, which is why I read somewhere that HMRC won't recognise it if the paid spouse or partner declare it as self employed payment and you declare it as expense on your tax return.
so you have to form a partnership or employed them the normal way.
