Survivor pension - GMPF

Hello,
I believe the answer is yes from searching, however would anyone know if receipt of a GMPF survivor/widower pension is terminated on entering into a marriage / civil partnership? Is it different per LGPS pension fund?
Thanks

Assuming that by GMPF you mean the Greater Manchester Pension Fund, that is indeed part of the LGPS.  As such, survivor's benefits are payable for life and don't cease on re-marriage.
You will need to inform them of your new personal details and address, if applicable, but that is just to update your records.  The pension will cease on your death, and can't be claimed by your new spouse.

Ah, thank you for that briefing paper reference. Copying the relevant paragraph from the full report you mentioned for any others who may be interested or search for this information at a later date:

The LGPS website explains how the rules now apply: If you are receiving a widow's, widower's or civil partner's pension it is payable to you for the rest of your life, unless your husband, wife or civil partner left the LGPS before 1 April 1998 and you remarry, enter into a new civil partnership or cohabit with someone. If your husband or wife left the LGPS before 1 April 1998 and your pension has been suspended on your remarriage or cohabitation before 1 April 1998 your pension fund administrator

Even in the case of those who left pre 1998,  most LGPSs have opted to exercise their discretion to pay survivor's benefits for life.
