Suggestion to my child

My daughter is good at maths, science, etc. I suggested to her to look for a career in health care, etc. She would be in year 11 this week.
I looked at website to see many people unable to gain employment in health care including doctors! This has amazed me, I always thought health care, doctors, etc would be in jobs for life.
Sorry, not a question but views will be helpful for my child.
Thanks

i am surprised to hear that health care professionals are unable to gain employment. where did you read that from?0 -
it depends on the exact profession - health care isn't just doctors and nurses1

I realise the article is 15 years old, but I guess it still applies...0 -
What makes you think an out of date article 'still applies' when the world has changed dramatically in the last 6 months, never mind the last 15 years? An article 15 years old has little relevance to a child of a similar age. There's a huge shortage of health professionals in the UK at present. Perhaps leave careers guidance to those who have a more up to date take on the situation - children aren't keen to listen to their parents at the best of times, which is probably just as well if that's what you're encouraging her to believe.tazwhoever said:

I wouldn't take one forum post from 15 years ago as evidence thst it would be difficult to find employment.3

If they're looking at health care I would suggest it isn't too soon to be thinking, as choice of a-levels etc shape future in some careers.AskAsk said:still quite young to think about a career in my opinion.

You do realise thats 15 years old.
Theres jobs on the nhs jobs portal then you have the private sector.2 -
the OP states that her child is good with maths and science, so that would suggest that maths and science would be the A levels to study. those would get you into any profession really.Barny1979 said:

doctors, nurses, anyone who works in a hospital, dentists are in great demand. getting a place in medical school or dentistry school is very competitive and difficult so demand for those professionals are always going to be high.
i have never met an unemployed doctor or dentist
nurses are also in great demand, but that is because no one wants to go into that profession as it is low pay and hard work.1 -
There’s no need to pick a career yet. If she likes these subjects then maybe suggest that she aims for four good A levels in maths and sciences. That takes her in the right direction, and leaves plenty of time to give some more thought to career direction later.1
