Business paying your home rent

Options
Hi
I make stuff at home and sell on ebay, I've now reached a point where I sell over £1000 if I sent a business account up instead of me talking a wage can I pay the rent on my house through the business and claim it through this?

  • Personal accounts are for casual buying and selling on eBay, while business accounts are a good option for sellers who want to:

    • Sell items that were bought exclusively for resale
    • Make items and sell them, intending to make a profit
    • Sell a large number of goods on a regular basis
    • Buy items for their business

Business sellers can register with a company name which will appear in correspondences and invoices. They may also be eligible for tax benefits and qualify for discounts on eBay fees.
    I hope this helps!

The short answer based on your very limited information is unlikely, The longer answer requires a lot more information , you say you make £1000, do you mean a day, a week a month?

Just for information everything boils down to percentages , and everything has to be reasonable , you don’t use a property 100% for business , you do after all sleep and live there as well. also be careful about rushing in to set up an expensive company with costs, depending on actual income a sole trader might be better.

Lastly of course do you have permission of the landlord to run any form of trade from the property.
