There is a name coined for his behaviour with money ' Reckless Conservatism '
It means he is so cautious about investing he is actually taking more of a risk than he appreciates .
It is better of course than him blowing it all on fast cars and casinos but not ideal . Also as mentioned earlier tax issues could come more into play later in life.3 -

Doctors who have unhealthy habits , top chefs who eat junk food, family social workers whose own lives are dysfunctional etc0
