Wedding refund

Due to Covid-19 my brothers weddings was unable to go ahead in April as planned. The wedding cannot be rearranged for several reasons ( partly due to the lack of options provided by the venue) so we have asked for a refund on payments made less the deposit which was non - refundable. They are refusing to refund the additional £4K which has been paid stating that due to the high fixed costs of the venue this is not possible. We have instructed a solictor and are now on the brink of taking them to court. Has anyone else had a wedding cancelled where they have managed to get their money back in full?
Thanks
