Credit problems and Mortgages

I have credit problems. I'm currently debt free, but have had payment problems in the past. I've completely cleared all my old debts (all paid in full, not settled), but am still being refused credit.

I want to buy a house, but can see no soloution, as I can't see companies lending me money with my current credit problems. Can anyone offer any soloutions, would ANY decent mortagage lenders take a risk with me? I'm in full time employment, single and renting.

Thanks in advance for any help.

It will all depend on the details of thecredit problems and how old they are - there will be lenders out there that will offer you a mortgage

  • The credit problems are approximatly two years old. I no longer am in debt.

The problems were with a loan and a credit card. Payments were late due to sudden unemployment. Its took me a long time to get the debts sorted out.

I was issued with a CCJ, but I managed to clear the debt within a week, so (I was told) the CCJ would be removed, and not appear on my credit record.

If you think mortages lenders might be willing to give me a go, are there any mortgage lenders you would recomend? I don't want to get ripped off.

    Thanks.
