Government Voucher scheme - servicing included?

Options
As per the title really, my booking is for tomorrow but I'm having last minute doubts... I booked quickly when it was first announced. My road bike is fairly up together I think, just needs a good service. Plus, looking at their prices on their website I would literally never buy even an inner tube there! So even with the voucher, pretty pointless offer without a service. If they do, do servicing as part of the scheme I might still take it down there. Decisions decisions  :#

What work have you booked it in for? If it just needs a service wasn't that an option?

    Thanks for the reply!

I don't remember there being any options for what you were booking, not in this case? The correspondences I've had so far have all followed the same sort of line, avoiding specifics. I think there's a 32-point service check included but no mention of any actual servicing.

You could phone and ask before taking it. What were you hoping they would do when you booked it in? Make sure you agree to any work and costs before leaving it with them.

Just a service to be honest - get it 100% hopefully for when I have to start cycling back to the office. If that ever happens - it'd be nice to get the bike back to full fitness. My local independent used to charge £25-£35 so I'm sort of seeing this as a free service.

How did anyone manage to get a voucher, the website crashed about 10 mins before the launch time!

My understanding was that you get £50 off whatever 'essential repairs and servicing' you ask them to do.

There is an asterisk after 'Repairs and Services'.  Presumably the leaflet details exclusions - maybe it only covers labour and you pay for parts, lubricants, etc?

  • The £50 voucher details are here:
It indicates they do a 32 point check and identify any faults that need work and the £50 can be used towards the repair cost with you paying anything above that. I think the use of the asterisk is basically to mean if your bike only needed £20 of work (say a couple of hours to index gears and no parts needed) you don't get an extra £30 of freebies. They refer you to the terms and conditions on the site but these don't actually tell you anything about the scheme...
