Buyer pulled out whilst application pack sent out

So had my mortgage appointment, paid for the survey and received an update from Santander to say application pack has been sent out. Last night my buyer pulled out.
Is it okay to wait to see if the application is approved whilst awaiting to see if I can get another buyer to offer the same price. Or am I obliged to just put the whole thing on pause?
