Advice appreciated - mortgage application - no house agreed yet!

Options
Hi there,
Hoping for some info/advice.
Short version of scenario is that my house is agreed (due to complete end Sept/Early Oct - we have alternative accommodation to go to), we had hoped to agree on a property a fortnight ago but missed out.  Still currently looking for a new house.
I have an AIP with HSBC (90 LTV) and a phone appointment with them early Sept.
My question is, can I go ahead with my application (to satisfy my fear of being rejected or having my LTV reduced) even though we haven't agreed a property yet?

Thanks.

No - the application requires information about the property, you can't fast track parts of it.

What are you more worried about, being rejected or just time to complete?  If the former then you should use a mortgage broker/advisor.
  • I suppose my main worry is selling my own house and then not being able to buy a new one because of high LTV.

I'd say my finances are in good shape, no adverse info to speak of.
  • In the current climate I’d be nervous to sell my house and not have a property to go to with a mortgage offer in hand.

When you apply for a mortgage you have to put an address, and estate agents details on the application form.
Without having those, you cant submit an application.

Does HSBC (direct) no longer have that weird two section process where they offer based on the individual, subject to finding a property? A bit like a fully underwritten agreement in principle.

This would be an ideal scenario, I wasn't even sure they could do this but it would certainly put my mind at ease.  I'm dealing with them direct so I will call in advance of my appointment to ask the question.
