Set up as self employed during bankruptcy

Are you able to set up and register as a sole trader prior to discharge from bankruptcy?

If you're a sole trader, that would make you the director of the business/company, so this isn't allowed if bankrupt. I'm probably completely wrong though!

Being a sole trader doesn’t make you a director. To become a director you have incorporate a company and lodge the appropriate paperwork at Companies House. 

You can be a sole trader, nothing wrong in that.
