Multi burning stoves

Options

Hi,

Be looking to get a stove (I'm north down) and I've already been round most of the local places in Newtownards/ Bangor/ Belfast but just wondering if anyone who had one fitted recently could recommend a place/ fitter or make of stove?

Been looking at the stovax stoves as I've had one before and they same a good stove

I have had a Morso and a Clearview stove in previous properties. Both were excellent, however the Clearview was in my opinion a much more controllable and better stove. However, I had it installed from new and had brought in a fresh air vent to the bottom of it so that may have helped, whereas the Morso didn’t have that advantage. The Clearview costs added up tbh and I found the accessories offered by the supplier (the likes of the flue) to be very expensive. The supplier you go to will either fit or offer you options for independent installers. Both are generally considered better than a Stovax - Clearview are maybe a little more traditional in appearance than a Morso - so depends a lot on your personal taste. Also note that getting the stove size output right for the room is critical otherwise it’s a total waste of money.

There is only one supplier in NI to my knowledge and that is Co. Down Stoves and Flues in Seaforde.
  • I would be careful about ordering a Clearview. One of their factories has closed down, with the result that they don't have any grates. They'll happily take your money, but it could be months (or years, who knows) til you actually get a complete stove delivered.
