Selling unwanted jewellery

Options
Anyone any experience? It is sentimental stuff but unwanted so would rather sell it and put the money to good use - trouble is how do you get a fair quote - online guide says go to pawnbroker and get cash for gold quotes but is this the best way?

The mind is like a parachute. It doesn’t work unless it’s open.:o

A winner listens, a loser just waits until it is their turn to talk:)

A ‘good price’ is whatever you can reasonably get, the fact they have sentimental value has no bearing on it. You might want to spend a morning trying local jewellery shops , many will buy jewellery, so get several offers and choose the best. Obviously they will be buying with a price to sell on and will take a profit on whatever they offer you. Alternatively try a bricks and mortar auction house , buyers will set their own price - but be aware of the high costs of selling and confirm it all before you agree to let them sell on your behalf.

If it is gold then you will be looking at a fairly standard melt price wherever you go, if there are precious stones then the quotes might vary more.

Got a batch of about 600 bracelets, Been selling them on Ebay since May and I`ve done fairly well about more than half have sold now with still more left. The way I see things is if the item hasn`t got a brand it won`t do as well which is probably why i`m struggling to sell the remaining few as they haven`t got any brands.

From looking around necklaces don`t do as well. Earrings and brooches do

This is something I did last year, I went to Vintage Cash Cow https://!!!!!!/32KmThk
simply because they were advertising on Facebook. They don't give you a price in advance but they pay for delivery to and from them - if they don't want your stuff which they pay postage for, they'll send it back, free. But they did want my stuff and offered a fair price. I was very happy.

It's a great way to get rid of unwanted jewellery but of course you won't get as much as if you tried to sell individual pieces, which I didn't have the time or patience to do.

With VCC I felt I had nothing to lose. And now someone else is using my unwanted jewellery instead of it being stuffed at the back of the cupboard, unwanted and neglected.

our local market has a collectors stall that i have used for years.
He usually pays 90-95% of spot price for gold and silver
Used him quite recently to clear some old gold jewelry and got a very pleasant surprise

Another option is to get it melted down and made into something you would wear - good option if its sentimental
