RBS Mortgage Offer Extension/Hard Search

My current mortgage offer expires on 20th September and I'm not sure if I can get it extended because of covid and if I do that will there be another hard search on me ?
How many hard searches are done in the process of house buying? so far I've had 2 done and haven't completed yet. Starting to feel stressed as my credit score has went down even though I have been paying off more of credit cards etc since applying for mortgage originally.
