Halifax Timelines

Can anyone help? We got our offer accepted and went to Santander and got turned down. My partner has adverse credit - 2 defaults, went through to application stage and turned us down, wasting three weeks. We went to a broker who deals with adverse credit and they are putting us through to Halifax, seems unusual as it's a high street lender. Anyone have any similar experience and got accepted by Halifax? Problem now is we are being chased by the estate agent (it's only been three weeks), but they want an update/ valuation booked in by mid next week. Does Halifax move fast? We're going through a broker now rather than direct (mistake) so hoping they know what they are doing, but still, such a horrible and stressful situation to be in.
Anyone been in this situation? Any positive outcomes? We really don't want to lose this house.

Sorry - I should be clear. Both defaults settled and from April 2018.

I applied to Halifax through a broker on October 23rd. I received my offer last Wednesday. It took them 8 full working days from application to offer. I am now going through the conveyancing stage which is looking set to be at least 4 weeks!
