kittychoo29 said:If anyone has any further thoughts on the dispute, I would appreciate it xxIts quite a common occurance, tricky problem, difficult to fix, landlord dosen`t want to spend money etc etc, but threats of court action are as old as the hills, and don`t forget, if they do get legal, your husband has the right to a defence, so its by no means a given that this chap will win, the court will decide who, if anyone, is at fault. You really should not concern yourself with that yet, unless, or until it happens. From what you say, he has a reasonable defence, so i would not waste time worrying about it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. From your original post it seems you have a lot going on all at once.
You've had some good advice already. All I'd say is everything money related can be solved with care, attention and determination. A statement of affairs lays bare your financial situation for other people to pour over and suggest improvements. It's also a really good exercise to go through in general as a lot of people really have no idea what they are spending each month and typically overspend.
Your husband sounds like a nice chap helping someone out like that. I'd say that worrying about something can be worse than it actually happening. I'd definitely back the advice to try and ignore the threats and if it happens, it happens. Until then just forget about it, you've got other stuff to deal with.Mortgage debt status:

Jan 2017: £ 150,206.48 (target was 150,000)
Jan 2018: £ 137,5000 -
Can I just say I can't thank you all enough for your replies. You've helped me to feel like I'm not alone in this.
I have been looking on Step Change website and I'm currently filling all our financial commitments and expenditures on there.
Honestly, I really am so overwhelmed by the support I've received on here, and without an ounce of judgement from anyone!
Also to all the lovely people who sent PM's thank you. I'm sorry I haven't been able to reply individually, but please know how grateful I am for all the support and advice I have received 💜3 -
You won’t get any judgement on here, most of us have been in a similar situation at some point, and for many of us, this was the only place where we could get moral, as well as practical, support. What you will get though, is some home truths. We know all about cutting back, living within our means, and going without some of life’s (mostly unnecessary) luxuries. We won’t tell you that having an expensive satellite package because “husband can’t live without his sports channels”, is ok, nor will we excuse you buying the latest phone/Botox treatments/gym membership etc, etc. You’ve clearly had your “lightbulb” moment, so from here on in, welcome to the world of debt collection agencies, scary letters, phone calls (all of which can be dealt with, don’t worry!) You’ll need to be organised, and to be honest with yourself about how much you actually owe, and how much you’re spending every month. This is definitely fixable. It won’t be easy, but it will let you sleep at night...getting a grip on the problem, and knowing that you’re actively dealing with it, will make you feel so much better, I promise. You’ve come to exactly the right place, MSE, along with Stepchange, will help to find a way forward for you both. Good luck! 😊"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0
