Just got Solar Panels Switched Back On.

Options
We moved into our bungalow about a year ago. Previous owners had switched off the solar panels due to them tripping the electrics. The panels (16 of them) were installed in 2015.
So we've just got the electrics sorted out and the panels should be good to go. We've transferred the ownership of the panels with our installer and with BG for the FIT payment.
I take it we don't have to inform our energy company (Igloo)?
And that once all the paperwork is done we will get some money off our electric bill AND a FIT payment?
Is that how it works? Our installer estimated about £500 return a year.

Yes, assuming the installation was correctly registered and all the paperwork is in order then you will receive FIT payments quarterly. You will save some money off your electricity bill as well because you will be able to use the electricity as you generate it so reduce the amount you have to import (and pay for).

If you don't have one, I suggest you get a monitor to show what you are generating in real-time so that you know when you can benefit from the free electricity.

There is no necessity to inform your supplier.

    Hi Petriix
If you go to the inverter website you may find that you can monitor the inverter via bluetooth or even built in wifi.
    Mine does this via bluetooth.

I believe my inverter would require an optional dongle to enable monitoring.

I like having a visual display in my kitchen to encourage people to check the generation before switching stuff on. We have a Geo Solo PV II which times the flashes on the generation meter.

My 8 panels were installed in 2015, I receive around £75/£80 per quarter, plus reduced electric bill. I am not aware of being able to see what is being generated.
