Sony SmartBand SWR10 - Discontinued Lifelog App

In an attempt to improve my mobility & fitness I recently purchased a (new) Sony SmartBand SWR10 on eBay.
forgive my ignorance (I'm no techie), but I'd to load 3 x Apps - Lifelog, Smart Connect & Smartband - then I get a display on my (Samsung) mobile showing steps, calories (plus a handy vibrator when my mobile rings) etc (which is all I require).
It seemed like a bargain at £15 - it probably was too good to be true as when I've set it up (although it appears to work OK) there are messages saying the Lifelog app is now discontinued.
After wearing Sony SmartBand SWR10 - Lifelog appears to work at this time, and log the steps etc. BUT

• Is Lifelog going to disappear soon ?
• & will my purchase then be useless?
• Is there a compatible App which I can load as an alternative ? 
• Would I need to delete the other 3 x apps beforehand?

Looking at the details of the app, sony have discontinued it and it won't sync with their cloud service past 1st August and if you remove the app, no more data. It seems you can keep logging the data on the app locally however, but if you get a new phone you'll be stuffed. A comment on a page I found mentioned using Google Fit but whether that works with your band I don't know.
