    1. If you are currently employed, put the name of the person who employs you or who gives your instructions in the Employment Section where it asks for your manager's or supervisor's name. If you are not employed, write "Not currently employed".

    2. If you have never been employed before, you can provide the name of someone who knows you from school or college as your reference, but you should write "(Personal Referee - no previous employment)" after their name. If you have been employed before you need to provide the name of the manager or supervisor you reported to, or you can put "HR Department" and the name of the company you worked at, if you know your manager no longer works there.

    3. If you are writing on a paper form, just go outside the box (as neatly as you can). If you are completing an electronic form, just abbreviate the last word you can fit in the box with a full stop. They will figure it out.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

[Is that a direct quote in 1 rather than "what is the name of your supervisor or manager"?]   Are you working through an agency at the moment?  Are you working on an assignment through them at the moment?

Are they asking the question in point 2 about your current employment?  What do you mean by not having a reference?  Do you mean you don't have a written reference to pass to them or that you don't have a referee or contact whom they could approach?

3 - shorten in a way that it still identifies them - so miss out an inital "The" for instance or omit the "PLC" or shorten Agency to Agcy

Then you need to find one. Few employers will accept someone who cannot give a reference point (even if they don't actually take it up).

What have you done with your life until now? How old are you? You are going to have to find SOMEONE who will give you a reference of some kind. If you have never had a job - or left it in circumstances which mean you won't get a reference - you're going to have to find someone to give a personal reference.

Who was the recruiter at the agency who asked you about the assignment? I've worked though a few agencies and there has always been at least one point of contact for me, checking in or who I would call if sick. Even my day only hospitality assignments have had a main recruiter/point person.
Do you work as part of a team in your assignment, do you have a manager/supervisor or is it a lone contracting eg IT? you can always ask for a personal reference from a co-worker?
Thanks to money saving tips and debt repayments/becoming debt free I have been able to work and travel for the last 4 years visiting 12 countries and working within 3 of them. Currently living and working in Canada
