Adverse history and finding a broker

Hi everybody

Myself and partner both have bad credit history and are planning to try for a mortgage in 6 months time (to allow for some more time to heal our history & save some more deposit)

however I thought about trying to contact a specialist broker soon to get advice/guidance on wether it will even be a possibility in the near future and if they could assist us is this possible or do they only provide info when you are going through an application?
I have read about looking for a whole of the market broker - is there somewhere to best find those local to us? When I try a google search it will just through a lot of brokerage companies up.

Any advice would be very much appreciated!
