Hi all, found out today landlord wants to sell our house. Offered it to us to buy and we want to buy it. Only problem is we don’t have as much saved as we wanted. We have £21,000 currently. We could save probably another 2-3k by the time we buy. We earn 70k a year between us. Could anyone advise if in the current climate we could get a mortgage with this deposit? The house is approx £190’000
thank you all

In theory yes as it's usually 4.5x income plus your deposit.
Less any loans, credit cards, PCPs, HPs etc.
Also if any adverse credit history this could have an impact on lender availability.
Speak with a whole of market mortgage broker, if no friends / family have purchased recently there are a few brokers who post on the boards, you can approach them, they cannot approach you first.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0 -
There are lenders doing a 10% deposit
On the income you have that should be doable subject to credit checks
As moving forward says some of us who post here are brokers and we are identifiable by our signatures. We cannot approach you but most of us are happy to respond to pm's0 -
If you are serious in your intent. Then your Landlord may be flexible and give you time to put your ducks in order. After all it's a far easier transaction for them.0
