Mortgage during our golden years

My wife and I own our house outright (recent valuation £220.000) we are both 73 years young and we want to move. Where we want to move to we would need to pay about £280.000 to get the same quality house. Albeit we have savings we only have £18.000 and we could not afford to pay any monthly sum. We have four children and we want to leave them at least £50.000 each. Has anybody got any suggestions please. My kindest regards

Can your 4 children loan you £15k each? I know that if my mum was in a similar situation I would suggest that to my siblings.1

Good suggestion as it would be a good investment for them. Thanks0

Do you both, or just one of you, have private pensions? If so, nothing stopping you having a mortgage.
