Specified Adult Childcare credits

Is it best to apply each year for these credits or leave it until my state pension is due and claim once?
I should be able to apply for these tax years, 19-20, 20-21 and  21-22. I will receive my state pension August 2023. Will I be able to claim for 22-23?
I have been looking after grandchildren since April 19 so I can shortly apply for the tax year 19-20 in October 20.

You can claim up until the end of the tax year before your state pension age, so for August 2023 the last tax year would end 5th April 2023.

Thank you for your reply. Would that last tax year be added retrospectively as you cannot claim until next tax year?
