Hi,
I asked for an early settlement figure which I was given in writing via the online message portal, the figure was valid for 28 days and included 58 days interest – (30 days additional interest for settling early and 28 days interest which takes you to when the settlement quote expires. I duly paid the full amount off immediately only to find out two weeks later that the account had not been closed and they are now saying they made an error with the original settlement figure and I still owe them £265.43 which then changed to £247.38
This has been going on for several weeks now as they cannot give me a valid explanation as to where this extra debt has come from other than a colleague made an error. They said the payment was due by 28th August but have since sent me a payment default letter and added another £25 plus daily interest. Their contact has been appalling and I have spent over an hour on the phone with several different people that don't seem to know what to do. All the while the debt is increasing.
Can they really make me pay this extra money when they have admitted it is their fault?

Make a formal complaint and take it from there."We act as though comfort and luxury are the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about” – Albert Einstein1
