My contract has 54 hrs per week and payslip same.
Yet I do 48 hrs one week 60 the next. Repeat.
Wage slip doesn't show hours- just total income. Then deductions.
On a 5 week concerned I will be underpaid. Was told it will work out. 54 hours is stated as that's the average. This sound abnormal ?

Over 12 months you will do:
26 x 48hrs and 26 x 60 hours and get paid 52 x 54 hours (i assume you get paid weekly)
so annually the maths works, HOWEVER this does not factor in annual leave0 -
Does your contract say you are paid hourly? All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0

Only if you pick a five week period that has 2 at 48 and 3 at 60; if you pick 3 at 48 and 2 at 60 you are overpaid. If you pick an even number of each it will average 54Buzzard1985 said:My contract has 54 hrs per week and payslip same.

If you can best to take your holidays when scheduled for 60 hour week0 -
If its 4 * 12 one week and 5 * 12 the next (or any system with even shift lengths) then there's no advantage to taking holidays on any particular week, its a matter of personal preference. IE you get more 4 day holidays than 5 days, but they are a day shorter.chrisbur said:

There are other ramifications of this sort of system but without knowing the exact shift pattern I would be guessing.

My husband is self employed and I do all of the paperwork, book keeping, website and advertising etc. Is he able to pay me say £60 a week for this? If so, is it as simple as me setting up as self employed and him declaring the money paid out as an expense on his tax return? He is a sole trader.
any advice would be greatly appreciated.
thank you0
