I assume she has already had her 'invitation' to take her state pension (in her own right) a couple of months ago. What is this 'higher rate of state pension' that you're talking about?

I'm not sure what you have seen on the internet - it may have applied to the old Adult Dependency Increase which ceased for new applicants in 2010. Or it may be that you have seen the articles where women who paid the Married Woman's Reduced Rate of NICs were possibly due an increase once their husband reached age 65.1 -
OP - I'm guessing you've been reading about the ladies who paid 'married woman's stamp' who should have received additional State pension once their husbands reached SPA at 65. These are the old rules, I'm afraid, and only apply to those who reached SPA before April 2016.In your case, you and your wife will receive your own pensions. And based on what you have said, your own State pension age will be 66, not 65.1
