Long wait for valuation

I’m a bit confused here (being a FTB doesn’t help!)...
We have had a mortgage offer from HSBC subject to valuation. Our solicitor was the one to receive this. I had paid a £999 booking fee on Monday and was told by the HSBC representative that it would be a desk valuation carried out in the next couple of days and “should be no issues.”
Today I was informed by our mortgage broker that the valuation was booked in for 24th August and unlikely to be a desktop valuation.

Now I’m very confused and unsure where to really push - the broker, HSBC directly?

You can ask the broker to find out via the bank who the surveyors are. They are usually separate companies and sometimes you can phone them and ask if they have cancellations to push your date forward. Estate Agent on the seller side sometimes have direct line to surveying companies, might be worth asking the EA if they are willing to call in a few days time.0

I dont think 24th Aug is a long time at all in the current climate.
HSBC do seem to be down valuing at the moment though - few threads about it0 -
Always good practice to put the booking fee into the mortgage, as if you decide not to take the offer or you get declined, the booking fee is generally non refundable. just pay it off as soon as you complete if you want"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"
