Hello
I was hoping for some help in deciding this and perhaps explaining how buying and selling in a chain works

My Husband and I are struggling to make a decision whether to stay here and sort our fixer upper or move (we have already done some large works)................we barely understand mortgages

What is the housing market like / predicted to be like now?  Is it a good time or better to wait a few years?

Our only real reason to move would be for a better area quieter (we are on a main road) ,  where we live isn't the best, but we have never had any trouble tbh

With love, POSR <3

Housing market at the minute is pretty good surprisingly.
Predictions are it will probably get worse over the next 12 months or so, but predictions in April (mine included) were that we would be very quiet now - as it happens we are as busy as we have ever been and so is pretty much every other broker I know.

Speaking personally, I bought a renovation project, did it up and sold it for pretty much the most any similar properties had sold fo in the area. It was the best decision I had ever made buying that house as it gave me a very good profit and deposit for my next home in an area I wanted to move to. I would never have been able to buy in this area if I had not bought that property and done it up.

I think the key questions are:
How much would it sell for now,
How much will it cost you to get the property complete/nearly complete,
How much will you be able to sell for once complete,
    How long will it take.

If you need to throw £10k at it but you will likely make £40k, for me it is a no brainer.
If you need to throw £10k at it and you will likely make £15k, then for the sake of £5k extra, I would probably just crack on with your move.
