Do I need to register as self employed? Videographer...

Hi, sorry for any silly questions...but...

I've been living and working in Asia for years, but had rental income from a property in the UK. Filling out my tax return has always been fairly simple and I never had to register as self employed for that. 

I'm now back in the UK and starting a new profession as a Videographer. Do I have to register as self employed, or do I just have to keep my records and declare any owed tax when I do my tax return? I also might have some income from renting rooms in my house, but I will be living there

Any advice would be great
