Fusion lifestye membership

I joined my local leisure centre yesterday. I booked a swim lane for this evening. (18.30- one hour slot) I was late, 20 minutes. I was told when I got there that there is only a 10 min window for entry. I understand that with the pandemic there are restrictions, but the reason I was given was "track and trace"
Well it was a booked session, where they had all my details. I would have been more than happy with a 20 minute swim.

I completely understand Covid safety. (I am a nurse. ) I work  30 mins away from home and left work later than expected and then got stuck in traffic.  (roadworks etc)

The pool doesn't open early enough , (first swim is now at 8) as i start work at 8am. and I clearly cant depend on leaving work on time to get back for a 6.30pm session.
I often work Saturdays.   I knew i wouldn't make the morning sessions as they stand at the moment,  but I thought i'd be able to get to the evening sessions.  (Pre closure the pool opened at 6am    So my gym and swim membership is not much use.

The supervisor said the terms and conditions are on the website- they are but its not easy to navigate. I was not able to complete joining online, as it wouldn't progress past the payment stage.  I contacted someone on facebook, who rang me back and took the payment over the phone.
I paid for the rest of the month, then gave details for a direct debit monthly payment.

Its probably better to find somewhere nearer to work.
So am i likely to be covered under distance selling regulations? Or do you think I will get stung for the first months DD?

This is covered by the Consumer Contracts Regulations. You have 14 days to cancel but can be billed for your use (or in your case non-use!) of the services.

Also I wouldn't recommend signing up to Fusion right now, they are in dire straits financially. They run all the council leisure facilities in Lewisham and the council have just kicked them out.

Thanks, they still haven't actually responded to my cancellation email.
I have an automated response from them on the 12th saying someone would be in touch within 10 working days, which should be  latest by Tuesday 26th .
Weirdly, when I checked my bank account there were 2 direct debits set up for Fusion. I've cancelled both.  Just have to see what happens.
