Halifax Appeal

Hi, I recently got accepted on a mortgage with Halifax and everything was going well until my car insurance put that I’d missed a payment on my credit file. Therefore Halifax declined me on a mortgage due to a change on my credit file. I have disputed this with the insurance company and Equifax today, had confirmation from my insurance that there is no payment missing and they’re amending my credit file which could take 14-21 days... I have sent all of this to my mortgage broker who will be appealing to Halifax to overturn their decision. I have been given a timescale of 3-4 days but I was just wondering if anyone here has experienced the same thing or if anyone can offer some advice on the likeness of Halifax changing their minds? Thank you in advance.

Sorry -  I have nothing helpful to say but that sounds horrendous. I do not understand how the credit agencies can have so much control over people and zero liability.

I'd be surprised if this was the actual cause of the decline. When you say "accepted" how far had your application progressed. If you had been accepted then the offer would have been pulled.
  • The offer was declined at the underwriter due to a change on my credit file, the missed payment being the change that was made.
