Barclays rate switch - affordability / credit

Has anyone had any experience with this? We’re existing customers coming to the end of our current term and being offered a switch to other more preferential rates.
Understand there’s no further affordability assessment but do you know if a credit check is made? My partners file is good and clean but mine has some blemishes... wondering whether the best bet is to wait until mine begins to recover...
