Really annoyed with Barclaycard..
Bulla
I'm currently in the process of trying to clear what I owe on my Barclaycard circa 4k.
My payments were falling towards the end of the month and because that was awkward for me as I get paid at the very end of the month I asked for payments to be changed to the beginning of every month.
Back in August my next payment was due on the 30th of the month and I ring and ask is it ok if I can defer the payment for a few days because I'm paid at the very end of the month, Barclaycard agree and say yep that fine.
So I make the payment on the 1st of September as agreed and then when my next statement rolls around I see a £12 late payment charge ! So I ring Barclaycard and explain that I'd made an agreement over the phone and they look back over my file and agree the charge shouldn’t be there and refund it.
I regularly check my credit file to make sure I'm up to date on everything and a few weeks later to my horror I see Barclaycard have reported my account 1 months late payment. Now I realise technically that I was a little late with my payment but surely the fact I'd rang them to explain my situation and made payment a few days later should have been enough.
So I ring Barclaycard to protest and they give me an address I have to write to explaining why I think the report is unfair.
I get a letter back today from Karen Thompson at Customer Services saying
"I have checked the information we have recorded with the credit reference Agencies and can confirm it accurately reflects the conduct of your account, and cannot therefore be amended."
I'm really annoyed, I've worked so hard getting my credit file to read all zeroes, and now I've got a nasty (1) next to my name ! Is there anything I can do ?

I would suggest you write back, explaining again why you think that you had a clear agreement to pay on 1st and so there was no question that this was an agreed payment and not a later payment.
Go on to say that if they do not agree then can they send you a final response letter so you will complain to the Financial ombudsman and the information commissioner.
However, just let me add that I think you are very very trusting if you rely on the word of a call centre staff in such a situation.. basically they don't really have the authority to change the T&Cs of your agreement or probably to understand the consequences of their actions however well meant.

Thanks for the advice I will try that next.
