Am I eligible?

in Cutting tax
We sold our home in the UK last year and are travelling for a while before coming back to buy a new principle residence there. I have three rental properties. We are UK citizens and the UK is our tax jurisdiction. Am I eligible to benefit from the stamp duty holiday, as we’ll be buying a new home to actually live in, not to rent out? Thanks for your thoughts.

Yes, you will benefit from the reduction in stamp duty rates. AIUI, you will still be liable for the 3% second property SDLT. If you sold principal residence and are buying new principal residence, then this may give you relief on the second property tax.0

Thanks. I should have phrased my question more clearly. I’d like to know if I’m eligible for the 0% stamp duty rate up to £500,000, given that I will be buying a principle residence, and have no other residence.

If you sold principal residence and buy principal residence within time limit (I think 2 years).1
