I have now done my first overpayment of £150 a month, plus some savings and some of my £2 coin collection bringing the total to £490:j

I won't be able to manage as much for the next few months as I want to concentrate on getting my rainy day savings sorted. As soon as I hit £1000 saved I will be throwing the rest at more overpayments. Yay! I'm off:beer:

My poor brain cannot cope with trying to work out interest saved so I am going to stick with recording how much I have overpayed in total, and how much the term of the mortgage has reduced by.

If you let me know your outstanding mortgage and interest rate, I will send you an excell spreadsheet for the ease of seeing how much you have saved and how much your overpaymnets make a difference

Hope to see you soon MissKJ :T and hi elantan its great being debt free isn't it! It is a bit wierd at first getting used to seeing numbers going up - I have spent the last 18 months willing my debt to go down quicker and I now have to get turn that on its head - higher numbers on my sig is now good:j

Many thanks for the offer IveSeenTheLight - I will PM you some time tomorrow when my mortgage details have updated for the month online. Your Exell sheet sounds really useful.

I am so jealous of you guys! Due to a few unexpected situations (my ex being an awkward "$%%wit, it has taken me longer than I thought to pay off my debts as they were higher than expected. But hopefully within a few months I too will be on my mortgage free journey!

Good luck with your challenge and I am sure that the DFW board has taught you lots of useful tips to help you with this!
