Mortgage/broker advice

Hi

I am looking for some advice please.

I applied for a mortgage with HSBC through a broker 5 weeks ago. (Prior AIP, offer accepted etc).

The application has now been over 5 weeks. A few extra documents were requested over 2 weeks ago but we have heard nothing since.

My mortgage broker seems to keep giving me conflicting advice with regards to time frames and seems happy just to go with the flow, however we are now being chased buy the vendors estate agents and solicitors as to what is going on with the mortgage application and I have no answers.

We have spent £1000 on survey and solicitors fees so far and obviously there is more to come.... and I don't even have an offer yet!

I have contacted HSBC and they are unwilling to look into my application as I am using a broker and state all queries must go through him...which they have been so far.

I am unsure of what more I can do, I am considering switching brokers but not sure I can do this if I have an open application with one?

Any advise would be appreciated.

Tell the broker you feel like they are giving you conflicting information and you want them to get a definitive answer for when you will have some news or at least a maximum time frame or ask them to call the agent to explain to them where everything is upto and timeframes as you do not have a clue or understand what you are being told?

You should not really be starting legal work until you have an offer.
The valuation fee presumably will be refunded if they decline your case?
