I have checked the national insurance record on the gov.uk website and this was the figure that I was entitled to.

How many qualifying years were there?

29 full years and around 5 years worth of payments which did not equate to full years. I was a labourer doing ground works for the majority of my working life, and the rest of the time I worked in pubs. I was always under the impression my stamps were getting paid but unfortunately by the time I checked many of my former employers had passed away.
  • When I say that I was always under the impression my stamps were getting paid I mean I have always paid tax and national insurance to my employer.

I imagine that in these circumstances it was quite easy to lose track of your NI record.

Were you never contacted by DWP concerning years not full?

No. I have never had a thing from them. When it came to claiming my state pension I had not heard a thing regarding it so had to phone to apply for it myself which I thought was also quite strange. At that point I was offered to pay £765 for each year to bring it up to the 35 years needed for a full state pension but unfortunately we do not have that kind of money.

Normally you would expect an invitation to claim.

Did you ask DWP to recheck your record, just in case there has been an error?

And do check for any additional benefits to which you and your wife might be entitled.

You maybe entitled to UC from the facts you've presented.

Hi. I'm 68 and my partner will soon be 61. We receive Pension Credit ((PC) but we are thinking of moving.
We are home owners and will likely make a profit on the sale. What is the maximum savings you can have before PC is not allowed?
Although my partner not registered disabled she is mentally and physically not able to work.
We can't even claim Universal Credit because my pension is £150.

You may be better off posting this as a new thread in the benefits section of the forum.
