Mortgage offer needs extending and bounced direct debits

Hi

Me and my partner got a mortgage offer approved beginning of March with Barclays, this runs out in September. We will need it extended, as due to hopefully complete in October.

I very stupidly forgot to transfer money across due to confusion and timings. So 3 direct debits bounced back. I am paying these this month, two of them are collecting again in the next 10 days (both insurance policies) and the other one, I rang up and paid over the phone. (Gym membership at a small independent gym).

Will this affect my score? I haven’t got a mortgage at the moment as I live in my partners house(we’ve been lucky that we’ve been able to continue to pay the mortgage and some more over lockdown). But this is his mortgage and a different mortgage company.

I’m just worried about it affecting my credit score and if they ask for copies of bank statements.

Many thanks in advance.

credit score means nothing to lenders, they use their own criteria, you better ensure that the companies in question are paid up asap to avoid your credit history being negatively affected

Thanks, even though I will have paid it straight away for that month would that be on my history?

you may have a late payment, clarify it with the companies involved and hope they won't put any markers on your file.

Diarize or set up standing orders to ensure you have enough money to the concerned account
