Hello,
Has anyone been shielding tried to get a mortgage recently? We’ve got government letters to prove my partner had to officially shield plus payslips to show what he earnt pre-COVID.
Thank you 🙂

It might prove difficult as there are no guarantees that your partner has a job to go back too.
Do you own a property ?0 -
What does this mean for the income and employment? Was he let go? Or just put on furlough?
If the latter then you can still get a mortgage on the furlough income. If he doesnt have any income at all then there is nothing to lend against1 -
He has a job to go back to - he’s a postman, he was told he had to shield on medical grounds. We’re in Wales so those off work in COVID due to medical conditions can go back to work as of 17th August (it was earlier in England).dimbo61 said:It might prove difficult as there are no guarantees that your partner has a job to go back too.

No we don’t, we have around £40k deposit at the moment for our house though.0 -
No he wasn’t furloughed or let go, he had a medical condition whereby the government advised he was high risk due to COVID so told he must stay home and shield - he has been getting paid and has the official government letters advising him to stay home. It’s ending on 17th August (we’re in Wales so it’s later than England).Deleted_User said:What does this mean for the income and employment? Was he let go? Or just put on furlough?

should be fine then. You'll have some lenders that will need to see a 'proper' payslip of being back in work. You'll have some who will lend just now. Probably worth getting a broker to do the leg work for you and find a good lender1
