Mortgage and arrears from 2013

My partner and I are in the process of applying for a mortgage. We’re both high earners and had a 15% deposit but can go up to 20% if needed.

When checking my credit file I noticed that there were two months in April and March 2013 when I was late paying my EE bill so was in arrears.

My first question is will this affect if we can get a mortgage? Everything else on my report looks good. No other missed payments from any of my accounts. We’ve already had DIP with TSB and are going through a broker.

My second question is why is this still
showing on my file. I thought it drops off after six years and it’s been over seven. It’s showing up as adverse account on Equifax as Experian and not showing up at all
on TransUnion.

Any insight would be helpful.
Thank you.

I think it will still show on your personal report but when someone credit checks you it will no longer show up as adverse, if at all, unless it’s something like a default with the lender your applying to.
Also I think mobile phone contracts are the least serious of adverse credit and if they are late payments and not defaults it should be fine. My husband has some old defaults (7 and 9 years old) and we told the bank about them and were told as they were older than 6 years they shouldn’t matter (they did when we got our first mortgage).

I’m sure one of the MAs will comment but you should be fine.

Also the online reports are just to give you an overview - after being checking for our current application my Equifax dropped from excellent to fair, but Experian has gone up from 989 to 999 so I just tend to ignore them now!

    Thanks for responding.
I was just late paying, I can’t even remember why as it was so long ago.

If it was that long ago it shouldn't cause an issue
