End of employment

Hi
i would like some advice.
I have 2  jobs one of which I have been on furlough since mid March, twice I handed in my notice for this job and both times they were rejected and remained on furlough. It was agreed with my manager I would make my final decision before the 10th aug as my manager wanted me to stay even if it was only 1 shift a week.
When I spoke with my manager on Tuesday I was told my resignation had been processed without my official letter. My question is can they do this as I was seriously considering staying

Did you ever formally withdraw either of your resignation letters?
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales
  • My boss tore them up and told me he did not accept my resignation
  • They have no right nor option to refuse your resignation as long as you complied with your contract.

Although you wanted to leave anyway, so what really is the issue?

What point were you trying to make if you were on furlough and thus being paid to do nothing?

Employers can't reject resignations, so given you've resigned twice, I don't think there will be any sympathy for your claim that you were 'seriously considering staying'.

the  agreement with my boss was even though I handed him my notice the last one being end of June with 1 weeks notice, that he said that as far as he was concerned I had not handed in notice, to stay on furlough and when business reopened to hand notice in then hence the 10th aug.
Yes I was paid to do nothing but the decision should have been mine to make officially

Well someone must have told payroll to process your resignation: if you can find out who that was you can ask if they can claw it back. But I'm not sure you have too many 'rights' in this situation - beyond the one where you are 'allowed' to resign!
