Ripple WT1 people, I understand you should have received your first payments? Only part of a month, I hear, but still a few quid off your next bill? How many pence per watt of turbine, if you don't mind me asking?
(The WT1 dashboard isn't visible to WT2 members which seems a missed opportunity :( )

Hi QB, Indeed two weeks worth at 9.5p/kW generated. As per Watt owned then x 2.67 = 25.39p. Accordingly our share for the month amounted to £20.59 from the 216.73 kWh's generated. A little under par at 94% of average in a normal year. Although have yet to establish precisely what March average windspeeds and hence output might be. Lowest recorded daily figure 0.12 kWh's, greatest 33.51 kWh's. Our daily average is anticipated to be 16.55 kWh's.
If it's of any interest then the return in an average year from Graig Fatha for each Watt owned is 2.67 kWh's while for Kirk Hill, or wind farm 2, the figure is 3.17 kWh's.
Just my thoughts here but this higher figure might be due to lower install costs per turbine, greater wind speeds, a slightly higher capacity factor or even a combination of all three. Anyway an increase of 14.98% over WT1.
Hope the above helps. If anyone is going to Fully Charged Show at Farnborough this weekend then Ripple are scheduled to have a stand and I understand will be pleased to speak with owners and potential owners alike!

I like the idea of Ripple, but something that's worried me about it from the start is the lack of information about who is responsible for decommissioning costs when the turbines reach end of life. Is it confirmed anywhere?

i am sure i read some where everything has been factored in , including insurance for  breakdowns decommissioning cost   anyhow  as previously discussed no member would be liable for any of this

A great time at Fully Charged Show today loads of Energy based stands represented. Ripple were attracting lots of attention and signing up new investers as were others. Had chats with the reps at Octopus, GivEnergy, Myenergi and Indra. Oh, LVE insurers who we have our house contents and buildings with were there too. I'd previously spoken on the phone to them about having PV, Storage Battery's and Zappi Car Charger installed which apparently are covered with no additional fee required. However, I wanted to be absolutely sure on this point so explained this all to them. With three reps involved, all covering different areas, one of them determined that it is indeed the case. But there is an issue in that they couldn't cover us for hiring out our car charger for monetary gain. Family and friends cars would be, but they were unable to cover otherwise as it is deemed to be a business!
I'd particularly asked this as we are a host with Co Charger so wanted to know where we stood upon the matter and now we know!

Taken from the window of my Ripple account today..

First full month Graig Fatha generation numbers

    01/05/2022

Initial indications are that the Graig Fatha turbine has exceeded the most optimistic estimates of output for April. That is despite wind speeds lower than modelled and the turbine being switched off for periods for testing and servicing.

Generation was 462,000 kWh whereas the P75 level we based ownership on suggested 407,000 kWh of output for April. This is 13% above the P75 level set out in the share offer document.

Its a bank holiday weekend and I have mulling over the figures. If I hadn't been away I would have attended the Fully Charged shoe today but I am very tempted and the Graig Fatha generation numbers are encouraging.

Alpha-5 raised the point of decommissioning costs above which I don't think is answered in the Ripple Energy documents?
As this is a long way in the future, it is not possible to say what would happen when the wind farm becomes worn-out but, depending on electricity prices, re-powering or just extending the life of the existing turbines by 5-10 years through overhaul may be possible.  As the planning permission lasts for 25 years only, an extension of this would also be needed. I guess this matter would be addressed by the Co-op membership as the end of life options became clearer. For example, the Co-op could consider using operational contigency funds for the decommissioning or could raise more funds from members if re-powering or life extension was viable and agreed by members.

Admittedly this doesn't seem to be addressed however.  1. The SPV is responsible for all aspects of managing the wind farm so this should include decommissioning.   2. Each shareholder has 5% of their shares cancelled each year.  So by the end of the project each shareholder has neither future rights nor future costs associated with the wind farm.  Any replacement wind farm I guess would be a new investment with a new share offering.

I don't think the stake you hold in Ripple is comprised of shares, more like a kind of loan.  Each year 5% of your loan is returned so after year 20 whatever entity you were loaning your money to now owns whatever remains outright.
