Ripple Energy wind farm?

Yes, many apologies for the diversion (thanks for all the input though). It is interesting to compare Ripple with other investments. I think I have concluded the potential returns probably aren't worth the hassle.

I see from their home page that Ripple have sold 48% of the Kirk Hill wind farm so far.It's not immediately clear whether that 48% is:
- 48% of the wind farm to private investors, in addition to the 30% sold to Bruntwood (ie. 78% sold total);
- 48% of 70% (=34%) of the wind farm sold to private investors, in addition to 30% sold to Bruntwood (ie. 64% sold total); or
- 48% of the wind farm sold in total, being 18% to private investors and 30% to Bruntwood.
Whichever of those it is, given that it's only been eight days they're off to a reasonable (18%/48%) to great (48%/78%) start.N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. Ripple Kirk Hill member.

I hadn't previously appreciated that Kirk Hill is but 4 miles from Turnberry Golf Club, the very same that a certain person who feels the US election was stolen from him purchased some years previously. It's rather ironic then, with him being pro coal and anti renewables that we should be given the opportunity of owning a small part of the wind farm which gained planning permission against his and his families wishes.It doesn't make it any more valuable financially, but what a tonic to think that us minnows can have a slice of getting one across that overbearing shark!East coast, lat 51.97. 8.26kw SSE, 23° pitch + 0.59kw WSW vertical. Potential returns are given when I go through the quote e.g. £2948 cost, savings over 25 years £5363. Are those savings in today's prices (i.e. not adjusted for inflation in energy prices)?0

Sorry, final question.
We have a fair bit of solar installed last year. When I messaged Ripple, they said we could estimate the annual usage pre-solar.
We were thinking of going for 120% of usage to maximises the investment. However, with a fair wind, it might be possible for us to have a negative electricity bill once accounting for SEG payments. Does anyone know in that circumstance whether it would then take money off the gas portion of the bill (also with Octopus)?
I did try to ask the question to Ripple but I am not sure they understood.

hi ,
from what I have read only the electrical pay of your bill, will receive any credit1 -

As far as I can tell there is only one account balance at Octopus, so only one pot for credits and debits, but they might be doung something different for Ripple customers (and I don't think any WT1 customers have been paid yet, so they might not be able to tell us either).

That is very interesting thanks. Do you know what would happen if you ran up a credit on your account then. In normal situations (e.g. overpaying) you could ask for a refund. Presumably with SEG payments you could also ask to withdraw a credit. It would be tricky for then to separate the various payments.
