Help! Can't get a mortgage appointment! 85% Nationwide or 90% anywhere else

We had our offer accepted on 27th July and booked in for a HSBC 90% mortgage application appointment online. The earliest appointment they have to do this is Tuesday 18th August.
We can however just about afford a 85% mortgage with Nationwide by porting our current mortgage but the earliest appointment they have is Wednesday 2nd September.
I'm really worried we will lose the house because we can't speak to anyone about a mortgage! Does anyone have any suggestions?

Use a broker instead of approaching the bank/BS direct. Check their timescales before you use them.Frances13 said:We had our offer accepted on 27th July and booked in for a HSBC 90% mortgage application appointment online. The earliest appointment they have to do this is Tuesday 18th August.

Some of us who post here are independent brokers, we are identifiable by our signatures. I had a client approach me from here on sunday, Aip done mon eve after docs recieved, application submitted lunchtime tue
Avoid the conveyor brokers like l&c and habito as they also have submission queues.
We who post here are not allowed to approach posters but most of us are happy to recieve pm's requesting assistance. If you don't have a broker then read the boards and pm someone who you feel can help you.0 -
As above, a broker would probably see you sooner although most brokers I know are pretty swamped at the minute also, but I am sure they will all be able to see you before the 18th.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I worked with Santander directly after initially using L&C (Please dont even think about them, absolutley useless in every way) and they have been brilliant, from AIP to Offer pending valuation in 3 days. Valuation has taken 2 weeks but that is due to surveyors and not their fault.0

Another reason to use brokers, no stupid appointments to do and lengthy grilling of your finances, broker does all that for you with a simple fact find you fill it at the time."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

I would suggest checking with HSBC but there were posts yesterday saying direct applications with appointments after 16th August will need 15% deposit0

In todays climate dont even think about going direct !
Use a broker = 100%
( I am not a broker but I finance properties regularly )0
