This isn't going to look good when the next company you work for, asks on the reference, about how many sick days you've had.
Didn't the first 6 words sink in?

i cant imagine you have it in writing that your employer agreed that you won’t work every weekend. I accept it is irritating but you’ve been furloughed for a few months and getting paid. They are now asking you (I assume only short term) to work every weekend.

Weekends tend to be busiest so I would assume you’re good at your job which is why they want you working weekend.

I personally would wait a couple of months before causing any problems over this.

Thank you, tried talking to deputy manager today and got told that it is all fair and everyone is being flexible  which is untrue and that because I don't have small children I shouldn't need weekend.  I don't have set hours every week inanswer to a previous question. No I feel like a lepper

Since children have all been at home (with very few exceptions) for months, hard to see why that should be a valid argument - but doesn't sound as if you did anything except wander off disconsolately with your tail between your legs. You're an easy target, so expect to go on being used for target practice.

In reply to a previous comment I have only had 1day off in a year!  I do understand where they are coming from but they need to understand that I have alone and swapping days without  asking is wrong and surely I should be able to organise a personal lifel like everyone else.   Also do  ot mind working one day over weekend but not fair if its both days every weekend and other employers only do one or none. Thanks for comments

'They need to understand...' 'Surely I should be able to organise....'

Up to you to convey that message, diplomatically but assertively, to your employer, if that's how you feel - and it obviously is. Posting it here is pointless. It won't solve your problem unless you can reach a mutually acceptable agreement with your employer.

Given it is such a small number of hours, do you really need the hassle which goes with the job for a relatively modest financial return? Only you know that.

Then say no. Where's the problem?

The problem is the difficulty many people have saying no to a request, even when it is unwelcome/unreasonable etc - but that's the only way OP will alter the situation. Clearly other staff are better at saying it than she is, so her boss is taking the soft option.

OP, next time you are 'asked' to work a weekend reply pleasantly but firmly saying that you and your husband have commitments you can't change (don't expand, just repeat if necessary), but you would be happy to work the following weekend or something similar, which gives your manager the chance to get off the hook with some grace.

Fairness isn't the name of the game here. Deciding which is more important - your weekend day off or your job - is. Make your decision then follow it through. The DM isn't going to alter their attitude or behaviour, so you need to change yours unless you are happy to maintain the status quo.

Given that the OP only works 8 hours a week she can't do that very often in a year. Plus, the employer can dictate when an employee can and cannot take their holiday so they may well not agree.

I am afraid, apart from trying to negotiate an acceptable compromise, there is no solution to the OP's problem here. She has no useful legal rights to rely on so she either has to put up with it, find another job or tell this employer what she will and won't do and hope they don't sack her.
