Can a so called friend write me down as guarantor for an amigo loan even though I have said no?

No, unless they are planning on some sort of elaborate fraud, posing as you in some way.
I never understand guarantor loans as surely if i was going to guarantee a loan, I may as well take out the loan myself, at least that way, if i am going to have to pay the loan myself, it may as well be at a good interest rate.3 -

Exactly, thats why posters suggest the 1 being asked to be a guarantor takes out the finance themselves.1
